The University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), the Galician Audiovisual Services Corporation and the Federation of Regional Public Radio and Television Organisations (FORTA) held the conference “Senior professionals in public media in 2035” on Thursday, 11 June, an event aimed at analysing the evolution of professional profiles in the context of transformation currently affecting public media.
The activity took place at the Faculty of Communication Sciences at USC and brought together Innovation and Transformation managers from the twelve regional television channels that are part of FORTA, researchers, university lecturers and audiovisual specialists to discuss the challenges that will shape the future of the sector.
Throughout the conference, participants addressed issues such as the emergence of artificial intelligence in production and information processes, the pressure of global platforms on local media and the need to redefine the role of experienced professionals in organisations that must reinvent themselves while maintaining their public service mission.
Among the participants was Talía Rodríguez Martelo, member of the research team of the CIRCOM Regional-UVigo Chair, who took part in a roundtable discussion on the changes introduced by artificial intelligence in senior and junior roles within the media industry. The debate also addressed issues such as editorial responsibility and the need to maintain senior human presence.
