The RTVE-US Chair on Cultural Content and Creativity in the Audiovisual and Digital Sphere at the University of Seville held its VIII Permanent Seminar, a session devoted to the role of verification journalism in the current context of disinformation and digital transformation.
Under the title “Journalism and Fact-checking”, the event took place on Wednesday, April 8, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., in the Assembly Hall of the Faculty of Communication at the University of Seville. The activity brought together specialists from the academic and professional fields to analyse the importance of verifying data and news in order to enhance quality journalism in the service of citizens.

At this meeting, José Rúas Araújo, academic director of the CIRCOM Regional-UVigo Chair, presented the chair and also highlighted innovative initiatives against disinformation carried out by CIRCOM Regional public regional broadcasters, such as the BBC, RTP Ensina, RTBF and France Télévisions. He also underlined the role of public service media in media literacy and in the defence of accurate information.
